Daniel Dennett, who is the most prominent philosopher in philosophy of mind, science, and biology, said that "In the future, human being's brain is injected to the technological hardware and it will develop as an artificial intelligence."
As he said, the technology became a part of our real life. We can't imagine the life without technology such as computer, cellular phone, and many other electronic things. For example, most people including me cannot go anywhere without GPS or even they can go, in such a situation they feel uncomfortable and nervous. In other words, the interaction between humans and technology strengthens more than past.
Then I think that the development of artificial intelligence leads the growth of cyber sex. Before the main discussing of cyber sex, it can have representative two definitions. One is that the intercourses through the technological equipment, which give a sexual excitement to the user as if he or she is actually having sex with the someone in reality. The other is that free access to the sex industry which is occuring in the cyberspace like internet or large BBS. Simply, "Cyber sex" means that having sex via the virtual reality space with the virtual partner.
The initial cyber sex was the "Intersex Project" which was developed for the U.S. army to have a sex without danger of venereal diseases through the computer simulation program. The principle of this program is simple. The sexual responses are transmitted to the partner who have equipment on remote control. Then, in 1974, Ted Nelson developed "Teledildonics" which were electronic sex toys using the convey system. This system's principle was changing the audio signals to touchable sensor. The participants wore a special clothing called 'feelie suit' which stimulated his or her sexual organ mechanically, then had a sex with somebody living far from them.
Today, cyber sex is doing more generally than before and the related technology is advanced much more. Stanford University's researchers are developing "Biomuse" system which controls the synthesizer then enables the virtual sex. And one venture company in South Korea also developed the online game called "3feel" which realized interactive one to one cyber sex through the network. The user put on the HMD, then entered the virtual system. "3feel" applied the 'motion capture' technology to enhance the realistic feeling of sex. "Sex Robot" is other example. It is already developed and on sale restrictively. The robot is similar to human's appearance, and you can change the robot's hair color, eye color, and even race freely. Also, you can upgrade robot's internal chracteristics by using wireless internet.As I mentioned above, there are already so many studies and experiments for the cyber sex. And Ray Kurzweil, who is worldwide inventor and futurist, said that in 2033 human beings will enjoy cyber sex and virtual sports via computer transplantation. If it realizes, human can hang between reality and virtual space. He says, "In the future, the virtual reality becomes a real world."
Many directors in the world already treated cyber sex as materials for thier movies. For example, in the "Lawnmower Man(1992)"
However, cyber sex is not a disgusting or wrong action. The development of an artificial intelligence will lead the generalization of cyber sex because 'sex' is one of human beings' natural desires. Through the technological developing, human want to meet their instinct, thus it's not awkward rather unaffected. Someone concerns about cyber sex's negative potential influences saying "The more cyber sex spreads, the more people regard sex as one of simulating games, not a holy deed." and also they worry about the ethical matters. It's partly acceptable but I think it is not a big problem as they worried because the problem they pointed out can be treated by changing our sight and mind.
As many scholars said, the cyber sex is evidence of our technical progress. It can bring us some positive sociological effects.Cyber sex is kind of psychological communication between human and technology which is called "Digital Telepathy." Since the technology was developed, we humans have dreamed about the linking with technology and finally we got succeed. Through the cyber sex, people who live a lonely life would find solace. Everyone who live in the individualistic modern society have internal loneliness. Then, people who live in the same age have a responsibility to meet their lonesomeness each other. But we have substantial limitation. In this situation, the cyber sex can be a good way of solving this problem. In my opinion, the cyber sex influences us positively by giving lots of comfort and pleasure to the needed.
Also, cyber sex can let people free of concerning venereal diseases such as gonorrhea, syphilis, and aids. In reality, most people always concern about many things like responsibility for the partner during having sex. However, cyber sex doesn't have such problems. People have sex at anytime, anywhere, without any concerning. So, some people who support cyber sex call this "Safe sex."
In conclusion, the fact that cyber sex includes potential problems is true. But, I think the cyber sex's positive advantages can overwhelm the drawbacks of it. Today's complicated society, there exists real chaos related with sex. People have wanted, are wanting, and will want sex in the future. Sex is so natural instinct of human beings and cyber sex can be a great hope to everyone in the world. Although the present level of cyber sex is technically somewhat lower than we saw in the movies or books, the future of cyber sex becomes closer to what we're expecting. In near future, we really enjoy cyber sex at home, and more, at anywhere the computer exists.
As Frederick said, "For the pleasure, the body is not needed. The sexual organ does not be stimulated physically. Just people accept stimulus through the sensory organ." and "brain will be the main organ of this process.", the cyber sex via computer virtual simulation system wiil be universal, enjoyable, and safe sex in the future.
